Samurai
Samurai were early Japanese warriors who were known for their skills as warriors and mastery over their sword. They are also known for their distinct influence on Japanese fashion. The samurai first appeared in the early 8th century but they truly rose to power in 11th century and became the highest ranking social caste in the Edo Period(1603-1867). The Samurai were strong ,wise, influential and organised and capable forming their own and taking over the country. So the emperor kept the Samurai in check by making them live by rules about dress and behavior.
Samurai followed the code of honour known as the bushido. Which consisted of the eight virtues like
- Righteousness
- Courage
- Benevolence
- Respect
- Sincerity
- Honor
- Loyalty
- Self-Control
And also the way of the sword.
Historically the Samurai and the Geisha have been most influential in Japanese fashion. The Samurai were not only the most efficient warriors but also well educated scholars and poets.
Samurais were sworn loyal and never forgot the debt of kindness bestowed upon them by their masters. Even though the era where Samurai once ruled the lands have ended.Thesamurai have left their mark on the pages of history as a true testament to the words courage loyalty, honour and virtues.
